Chemistry Chair Receives the Brenner Scholarly Achievement Award
Dr. Petia Bobadova, Chair of the Chemistry Department, recently received the听Daniel Brenner Scholarly Achievement Award.
Excerpt from the nomination letter:
As a Computational Chemist, Dr. Bobadova听uses mathematics to predict the properties of molecules, creating a听detailed 鈥渧irtual reality鈥 for molecules. She has worked on a collaborative project on fluorescent听molecules with a Louisiana State University faculty member, where she is able to connect to a听supercomputer cluster necessary for her work. This research is very important, as new molecules with听fluorescent properties provide new opportunities for improving diagnostics in human health and disease听and open new avenues of research that require an ability to localize specific molecules within an organism.听 Dr. Bobadova's recent overall scholarly contributions are impressive: 2 grants through the National Science听Foundation, 6 peer-reviewed papers, a book chapter, and 7 poster or oral presentations.听听
Congratulations, Dr. Bobadova and the Chemistry Department!
